I'm a scavenger by nature. Rusted bottle caps, shards of pottery, abandoned birds nests, yellowed pages of discarded books, sun-bleached animal carcasses and bones. My studio is a trove of excavated fragments;they mark the passage of time, possess their own narrative, each is a silent reminder of their personal history. I began my career as a fiber artist, and while I've moved away from the loom, I've taken with me the vocabulary of the weaver; I see in patterns, layers and textures. Throughout my work I build surfaces suggestive of nature's inherent symmetry, awkward incongruities and precarious balances.
